Dr. Lee joined the New Drug Development Center(NDDC) in 2012 as a principal researcher and is currently a president responsible for managing and planning strategies in research and business in the center.
Dr. Lee has background in drug discovery in the area of viral diseases, metabolic diseases and cancer. He has been at pharmaceutical company LG Life Sci.(1984-2000) as a principal scientist and at venture companies including Crystalgenomics(2000-2006) and NewGex(2006-2012) as a research director.
He studied at Seoul National University with B.S.(1982) and M.S.(1984), and obtained Ph.D. at U. of Washington, Dept of Microbiology (1993) in the area of molecular virology.
He has extensive experiences in the aspects of drug discovery including protein purification and characterization, drug repositioning, GPCR drug discovery, anti-viral drug and biological drug. Structure of the catalytic domain of human phosphodiesterase 5 with bound drug was published in Nature as a cover story.
