Monique Kelley has recently joined Takeda Pharmaceutical Company, Ltd. as Director of R&D Communications. In her role, she helps lead internal and external enterprise communications that support business priorities while infusing industry best practices for the global, values-based, R&D-driven, biopharmaceutical company. Recently named a PR News’ Top Women in PR award-winner, Monique brings more than 15 years of experience partnering with the leading global pharma/biotech companies focused on serious medical conditions to solve communications and, ultimately, business challenges and drove results. She specializes in all facets of global and US product communications – from strategy, issues management and execution for pipeline product milestones, regulatory actions and marketing launches to loss of exclusivity – and oversee enterprise corporate communications work that adds value. Prior to joining Takeda, Monique was a Senior Vice President, Global Client Experience Lead and Boston product communications head for one of the top global marketing communications agencies, Weber Shandwick. Monique served as a strategic advisor to pharmaceutical companies, such as Sunovion Pharmaceuticals, Eli Lilly & Company, Daiichi Sankyo and Johnson & Johnson Vision Care, and was responsible for building and leading multi-office, cross-functional teams to develop and execute communications programming. She also led new business development efforts and was the Boston Executive Sponsor for Diversity Equity and Inclusion. Monique is on the Board of Directors for the Public Relations Society of America’s Boston chapter as the Co-Vice President of Programming and is also a member of the life sciences industry organization Women in Bio. Monique earned a Bachelor of Science degree in communications, with concentrations in public relations and psychology, from Boston University’s College of Communication where she regularly guest lectures and was recently featured on the University’s Proud to BU podcast.
