Dr. Deepak Kumar is a Research Assistant Professor in the Department of Agricultural and Biological Engineering at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. He earned his doctorate degree in Biological and Ecological Engineering from Oregon State University. His research is focused on the development of novel bioprocessing technologies, process optimization and sustainability analysis of the production of biofuel and biomaterials from starchy and lignocellulosic feedstocks using combined experimental and modeling approaches. He has authored or co-authored 24 scientific articles in highly ranked journals, 5 book chapters, and 6 conference proceedings. He has received several awards, including the Bioenergy Society of Singapore (BESS) Achievement Award 2016.
