The Science of Shattering the Lab’s Glass Ceiling

2:30 PM–3:45 PM Jun 3, 2019 (US - Eastern)

118B, Level 100

Today women represent 24% of the STEM workforce, a major underrepresentation considering that women make up 47% of the total workforce and over half of Americans working with a college degree. These disparities get even worse in our industry’s labs. In biotech, roughly 15% of Board seats are held by women despite entering the industry workforce at the same rate as men.

This panel discussion will bring together women who have successfully earned highly visible leadership positions in their field and will focus on the opportunities and challenges for women in science who are seeking leadership positions. The case studies shared will draw on experience from both the academic, financial and industry spheres as well as decades of observations about the changing nature of work and pressures experienced by women in scientific settings.
